50 Shells Liberated!
In 2013 I embarked on a very robust project: I was to produce fifty artworks to be auctioned for a non profit enterprise.
The enterprise never came to realization, but my wood bowls still were there.
THE COLLECTION OF SHELLS CREATED OVER A PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS' TIME.
Each has a story, from traditional to bizarre, including Puff the Magic Dragon and a Fish Story.
Most are in private collections now, but there are a few left. I will list them elsewhere as I inventory them.
The decoration of simple "treen" turned out to be a
wonderfully exciting enterprise for me for a number of years.
Treen is an old fashioned word for implements
made of wood (trees).

Today I "coppered" a carved bowl!
The carving is sculptural and I emphasized that with some painting effects, and then colored it all to look like antique copper. The straps binding up the "flaw" have vermillion linings. They will be attached with pegs so that the lining is visible from both the inside and the outside of the bowl.
A camphor wood salad bowl gone lyrical with color and texture.
(This piece is one with a food-safe finish)
